Dr. Mihir Kumar Goswami, joined as Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of Nagaon Medical College on 19/04/2023. Dr. Goswami completed his M.D (General Medicine) in 1989 and attained PhD in Medical Science (First Doctorate Degree holder in Assam in medical science) and Joined as Faculty in Medical Colleges of Assam in 1990. Before joining as Superintendent of Nagaon Medical College, he was working as Prof. & H.O.D. of Respiratory Medicine at Jorhat Medical College.

Dr. Kabindra Deva Sarma is the Superintendent of Nagaon Medical College. Dr. Sharma completed his MBBS from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati in 1989, and did his Masters in Ophthalmology from the same college in 1995. Dr. Sarma joined medical college as a registrar in 1996 and been engaged in teaching and clinical services since then, and promoted to the post of Professor of Ophthalmology. He joined as Superintendent of Nagaon Medical College on 22.04.2023.

Nagaon Medical College is affiliated to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences. The university was established in 2009 as per Act "The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Act, 2007". The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences is the only health university in the North Eastern Region with its jurisdiction to the whole of Assam. The university is presently located at Narakasur Hill Top, Bhangagarh, Guwahati-32. Link to University Website.

Nagaon Medical College is currently having MBBS course with 100 seats. The college has been permitted for MBBS course by NMC.
NMC Approval Status
Approval for 100 MBBS seats has been received by Nagaon Medical College from NMC, MARB (UG Section) dated 23.02.2023 in the form of Letter of Intent. Letter of permission for 100 MBBS seats from NMC was received on 27.02.2023. Letter of Intent is downloadable from here.

Independence Day Celebration (15-th August 2024)


India's 78-th Independence Day was celebrated by hoisting the proud national flag of India by the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of Nagaon MC, Prof. (Dr.) Mihir Kumar Goswami amid rendition of National Anthem by the onlookers which included students, faculties and staff of the college. Breakfast to all present was served following the event.

Condemnation of incident at RG Kar MC, Kolkata (14-th August 2024)


The brutal incident at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata shocked the nation and infuriated the whole country. "Prerona" the Lady Doctors' Association of Nagaon MC along with all the faculties and students condemns the incident and stands in solidarity with the victim & family. A candle light march was done by the students on 14th August 2024 to mark their solidarity.

World Breastfeeding Week, (1-7th August)


"World Breastfeeding Week (1-7th August)" was commemorated in Nagaon MC by the Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with Rotary Club of Guwahati Icon. A community outreach program was held at Karaiyani mini PHC to spread awareness on breastfeeding by the Department of Community Medicine of Nagaon MC.

World Environment Day, 5-th June 2024


A plantation drive in and around the college campus was organized to mark the occassion of Worl Environment Day on 5-th June 2024. The event was lead by 'Prerona', the Lady Doctors' Association of Nagaon Medical College.

Sign of Agreement of IPA


MoA was signed by Principal of Nagaon Medical College for IPA project of Assam State Secondary Healthcare Initiative for Service Delivery Transformation (ASSIST) Project. ASSIST is provided funding by The World Bank and its main objective is to improve district level health services in Assam by improving quality, access and management capacity. The duration of the project is six (6) years. Nagaon Medical College is proud to be part of this project.

World Blood Donor Day, 14-th June 2024


World Blood Donor Day was celebrated in NgMC organized by the Department of Pathology. A volauntary blood donation camp was organized on 12-th June in relation with the event. In the meeting dignitaries requested others to come forward for blood donation, and also thanked those who donated blood.

First Foundation Day, 27-th February 2024


It seems like yesterday, but the truth is Nagaon Medical College is now 1 year old. The 27-th February is celebrated as the foundation day of Nagaon Medical College. The First Foundation Day of Nagaon Medical College is celebrated with a day long program with wide participation from students and faculties. The program was started with a Walkathon in the morning, followed by the College Flag hoisting. The General Meeting was conducted in the forenoon, chaired by Principal Sir. Guest of honours included Dr. Babul Bezbaruah, Principal of Nalbari Medical College and Mr. Arup Manna, noted film-maker from Nagaon. Dr. Sarat Borkotoky, retired Principal of Nowgong College attended the meeting as Chief Guest. Annual Report was released and read to the public. The evening was celebarted with a Cultural Program where students and faculties performed. A stage drama was performed by the faculties of Nagaon Medical College to the much excitement of students.

Saraswati Puja, 14-th February 2024


The Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, flowing water, abundance and wealth, art, speech, wisdom, and learning -- Maa Saraswati's Puja is performed across all educational institutes of the state of Assam with much devotion and funfare. At Nagaon Medical College on 14-th of February, Saraswati Puja was performed by the students and faculties. Wall magazeines of both Girls' and Boys' hostels were released on the day. An anatomical model competition was also held. The evening was celebrated with a cultural night and fashion show with students and faculties.

Republic Day, 26-th January 2024


75-th Republic Day of India on 26-th January was celebrated in the NgMC with flag hoisted by respected Principal Sir, and students performed patriotic dance and songs.

Kongali Bihu, 18-th October 2023


Kati Bihu or Kongali Bihu was celebarted in respective hostels of Boys' and Girls' of Nagaon Medical College. Bohag Bihu or Rongali Bihu is the spring time festival and an identity of Assamese people. Rongali Bihu is well known across the country for its vibrant colours, bihu dance and overall pomp of the season. But Kati Bihu has a different flavor as there is less merriment and the atmosphere has a sense of constraining and solemnity. To pray for the well-being of the crops in the paddy fields, earthen lamps ('chaki') are lit at the foot of the household tulsi plant, the granary, the garden ('bari') and the paddy fields. Students of Nagaon Medical College preyed before the tulsi plant in front of their hostels to mark this solemn occassion.

SPHYGMOS, the Annual College Fest, 11-th to 14-th October 2023


SPHYGMOS is the name given to the Annual College Festival of Nagaon Medical College. The first batch of students took part in this beautiful event with all their might from 11-th to 14-th October. Pariticpation of faculties and residents in this program made this first ever collge fest a memorable one for the college.

Wprld Mental Health Day, 10-th October 2023


World Mental Health Day (10-th October) was celebrated by the Department of Psychiatry of Nagaon Medical College. On-site awareness talks were given to patients and attendants of the college. A talk on stress management was given by Dr. Bishruta Goswami for students of NgMC. A Psychiatry Awareness Quiz, entitled 'Psyche 23' was also organized among the students of the college. Respected Principal Sir along with Medical Superintendent, and other faculty members joined the program. Also an awareness talk was organized with the students of Barbheti High School of Barbheti Nagaon.

A Voluntary Blood Donation and Awareness Camp was organized by Dept. of Pathology on 28-09-2023 under Ayushman Bhavah Campaign.

GCP Workshop as conducted by Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences on 23-09-2023 were attended by the Ethics Committee members of NgMC, and Principal of NgMC attended as a penalist in the Workshop.

Family Adoption Program as per NMC norms, were started with the first batch of students of Nagaon Medical College. First year students adopted families according to the NMC regulations.

Wall Magazines were published and displayed by Boys' and Girls' Hostels of Nagaon Medical College on 18-09-2023. The unvailing of the magazines were done by Respectd Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of Nagaon Medical College in presence faculties. Everybody appreciated the efforts of the students.

Biswakarma Puja was celebrated at the NgMC Campus on 18-09-2023.

Amrit Brikhys Andolan, is an endevour by Assam Govt. for commercial tree planting by Self Help Group Member, ASHA workers and supervisors, Police, Educational institutes, Anganwadi workers etc. On 17-th Septmeber, 2023 NgMC also took part on this Andolan.

Teachers' Day Celebration. The first batch students of NgMC, presented the teachers of the college a well-organized beautiful ceremony on the day of Teachers' Day. Principal, Superintendent and faculties took part in the event, and blessed the students.

Oath-taking ceremony of the very first batch of MBBS students of 2023 (dated 1st September 2023) in an august ceremony in presence of Honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Mid-Term CME of IAP Assam State Branch was conducted at Nagaon Medical College on 13-th of August 2023 in august presence of renowned speciliasts of the state. The Hon'ble VC of Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences graced the occassion as Chief Guet.

Doctor's Day (1-st July) of 2023 was celebrated with a gathering of faculties and staff of the college at the lecture hall 3. The solemn event was graced with encouraging speeches from the faculties and Principal of Nagaon Medical College. A ceremonial cake was cut to mark the occassion.

International Yoga Day (21-st June) of 2023 was celebrated with morning Yoga session attended by faculties and staff of the college. The Yoga session was conducted at the lobby of the college building from 7:30 AM.
Marowary Sammelan of Nagaon, Assam donated wheel chairs and other medical items for help of the patient on 17-06-2023. Nagaon Medical College offers their gratitude to Marowary Sammelan for their good work.

On the World BLood Donor Day (14-th June) of 2023, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized by Department of Pathology and Blood Bank. Faculties including Principal Sir, and Medical Superintendent donated blood, along with other voluntary blood donors. A congratulatory meeting was conducted at the end of the day to thank all the voluntary blood donors for their selfless service to the needy.
